IMD’s July 28, 2026 monsoon update says rainfall is likely to be normal to above normal over northwest and central India during the next few days. Source: IMD Mausam. That does not mean every city will be unsafe, but it does mean travellers should plan with more buffer.

Before booking

• Check the weather warning for both source and destination, not only the destination.
• Prefer refundable or changeable tickets when heavy rain is likely.
• If travelling by road, avoid unknown low-lying routes at night.
• Keep hotel check-in and transport contact numbers offline.

What to pack

• Waterproof pouch for phone, cards and ID.
• Power bank, basic medicines and one dry clothing layer.
• Scanned copies of ID, tickets and hotel booking.
• Small cash for places where UPI or card networks fail.
